AI & Food Waste
Food waste is a significant problem that affects not only the environment but also the economy and society.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), approximately one-third of the food produced globally is wasted each year. This waste costs an estimated $940 billion annually and has a significant impact on greenhouse gas emissions. The hospitality industry is one of the sectors that generate a considerable amount of food waste.
According to a report by Champions 12.3, hotels generate approximately 33 pounds of food waste per room each month. This waste represents a significant opportunity for the industry to reduce costs and create a more sustainable future.
AI technology has emerged as a promising solution to address the problem of food waste in the hospitality industry. The use of AI can help hotels and restaurants predict food demand accurately, optimize inventory management, and reduce waste.
A recent article in Forbes suggests that AI technology can help the hospitality industry save up to $100 billion annually by reducing food waste. At Adept Technologies, we recognize the potential of AI to curb food waste and save costs in the hospitality industry. Our ongoing AI & Machine Learning project focuses on developing an AI solution to address this issue, and we have been making significant progress.
Our team of data annotation agents has grown from 28 to 60 members in just eight months, and we are proud to have contributed to the realization of SDGs 5, 8, and 17. Our project’s success is not only due to our team’s hard work and dedication but also due to the support from our partner, KITRO. Our collaboration with KITRO and our team of data annotation agents is a testament to the importance of partnerships for achieving the SDGs.
As we continue to work towards a more sustainable future, we must leverage technology and partnerships to achieve the SDGs.
